From the beginning of the Horse club Equus in Alhaurin de la Torre in 1989, its founder, Mr. Miguel Barrionuevo, became inspired by the traditional baroque dressage. This type of dressage finds its origins after the great European battles. The monarchs wanted horse riding exhibitions to be performed in their palaces, so the war exercises were modified to clear the way for a more beautiful and artistic ones.
Artequus has become a temple of Artistic Horsemanship in Malaga, where Alejandro Barrionuevo follows in his father’s footsteps to preserve the tradition of the equestrian school that unites horse and rider in a fine harmony, together with great elegance and optimal accuracy.
Since horses are our life we care for them, protect them with gentleness and teach them from the utmost respect. We do believe horse riding is art, feeling, love, spirit, strength, balance, ability, beauty and grandeur.
